Sadie Sink’s Mystery Role In ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Will Return For ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

Hot off portraying Max Mayfield in Netflix’s Stranger Things, actress Sadie Sink is looking to make her mark in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), as apart from her mystery involvement in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the 23-year-old will also reportedly reprise the role in Avengers: Secret Wars.

This news came from a recent interview with Deadline, where the star spoke about her London West End stage debut. Hidden among the talk of her involvement in an upcoming Romeo & Juliet stage performance, Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye confirmed that Sink will “join the cast of the next Avengers picture that shoots in London later in 2026″, referring to Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to hit cinemas in 2027.

This revelation is especially interesting considering the fact that her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which comes out earlier in July 2026, hasn’t even been revealed yet. Still, the fact that this mystery character is of enough importance to appear in Secret Wars (although there’s no indication that she will appear in its preceding chapter, 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday) will certainly shift fan speculation on who she will portray, perhaps an alternate-universe Mary Jane Watson or Gwen Stacy?

Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks the fourth instalment in the Holland-led franchise, following 2021’s No Way Home. While story specifics remain under wraps, the comic book storyline it adapts sees Peter Parker landing a deal with Mephisto to make the world forget his identity as Spider-Man and resurrect Aunt May. However, the spell ends up resetting his world and terminating his marriage with MJ, played by Zendaya (Euphoria) in the movies.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings helmer Destin Daniel Cretton will serve as director on the project, with additional cast including Jacob Batalon (Novocaine) reprising his role as Parker’s best friend Ned,  Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle / The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Michael Mando’s Scorpion, alongside Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) and Tramell Tillman (Severance) in undisclosed roles.

In any case, fans don’t have to wait much longer to find out who Sink plays, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day will swing into theatres on 31 July 2026
