What happens in New Vegas may not stay in New Vegas, after all. Following the resounding success of its first season, Amazon Prime Video’s live-action TV adaptation of Fallout is set to feature one of the most iconic locations (and story) from the game franchise in Season 2, with the trailer teasing the debut of fan favourite villain Mr House (Justin Theroux), who shares a connection with the Ghoul, played by Walton Goggins.

Speaking to Empire, the Mulholland Drive star said of the dynamics between his character and the latter, “We have a couple of really incredible scenes that are just these big, heavyweight bouts of intellect. It was like doing Waiting For Godot in the middle of the whole thing.”
But that won’t be the only relationship in the limelight. Ella Purnell’s Vault dweller Lucy is getting her own bonding moments with the Ghoul as their adventures continue, allowing their unlikely camaraderie to develop further in a push-and-pull manner.
At times, it’s like [they] are on this buddy road trip,” expressed Purnell. “And then other times, they’re so much at arms. They’re trying to influence each other and see who’s going to rub off on whom. Is the Ghoul going to become good? Is Lucy going to become bad? Or are they going to be somewhere in the middle?”
An exclusive new look at the pair was also unveiled:

Alongside Purnell, Theroux, and Goggins, Aaron Moten (Emancipation), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Moisés Arias (Pitch Perfect 3), and Frances Turner (The Boys) are all reprising their roles as Maximus, Hank MacLean, Norm MacLean, and Barb in the second season. Notable series newcomers include Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, who will portray a yet-to-be-specified “crazy genius-type character”.
Per the official logline, Fallout Season 2 will “pick up in the aftermath of the first season finale in taking audiences on a journey through the wasteland of the Mojave to the post-apocalyptic city of New Vegas.” Instead of a beat-by-beat adaptation of Fallout: New Vegas, it’s set 15 years after the events of Bethesda’s 2010 game, and like the first season, tells a story that straddles both past and present.
The series returns to Prime Video on 17 December.
