Here’s a peek at the top exhibitor highlights that await you at SGCC 2025.

Bandai

The Tamashii Nations booth (L1-B03) once again presents a haven for fans of anime and manga collectibles, and this year’s headliner figures include the S.H. Figuarts Ultimate Shining Ultraman Zero (Ultraman New Generation Stars Ver.), a gold and silver-tinted variant of the iconic hero that was the winner of the S.H.Figuarts New Generation Ultraman Vote, which was held in celebration of the release of over 2,000 S.H.Figuarts models.

Ultraman isn’t the only famous hero receiving the spotlight this year, as S.H.Figuarts is also commemorating the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball with the S.H.Figuarts Son Goku & Dragon – 40th Anniversary Edition, which reproduces the iconic cover illustration of the 1985 Jump Comics issue, Dragon Ball Vol. 01.

For Gunpla fans, head down to the Bandai Hobby booth (L1-B07) to grab exclusive limited-edition items and merchandise available only at the event, including four Gundam Base Limited Burning model kits: The MG Gundam Dynames (Clear Colour), MG Gundam Kyrios (Clear Colour), MG Destiny (Heine Westenfluss Custom) and the RG Burning Gundam Hyper Mode. Enthusiasts and newcomers alike can also go hands-on at the showfloor itself by taking part in Gunpla Workshop Activities sure to scratch that model-building itch.

The time has come once again for the Singapore Comic Con (SGCC), an annual celebration of all things geeky, and this year, things have been stepped up a notch, with two floors filled to the brim with sights, sounds, and of course, merch to drop your cash on! With so much to see and explore, here’s a quick rundown of the event’s must-see highlights.

2024 certainly marks a good time to be a Transformers fan, with multiple appearances from the legendary robots in disguise across multiple booths such as ThreeZero (L1-D05), Blokees (L1-F01) and Mighty Jaxx (L1-F02).

In the market for premium collectible Transformers statues? Head down to ThreeZero’s booth and feast your eyes on its intricate figures based on characters from the various live-action movies in the franchise like Transformers: The Last Knight and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts. What’s more, preorders are open for the Transformers: Age of Extinction DLX Lockdown, a stunning rendition of the infamous bounty hunter and assassin, which will be released in 2025.

If model kits are more your style, then Blokees has got you covered with a vibrant booth showcasing not only released products, but also fan design submissions, including an impressive Optimus Prime figure repainted to fit the colour scheme of the iconic RX-78-2 Gundam. Model kits from the Transformers, Marvel, and Three Kingdoms franchises are also up for sale, including the limited edition event exclusive Pink Optimus Prime, with only 999 units up for grabs.

Capping off the Transformers experience is Singaporean toy company Mighty Jaxx and its extensive collection of collectibles across different ranges for collectors of all ages. Event attendees are in for a special treat, as its Superkraft Lab sub-line is showcasing two of its luxury collectibles, the Till All Are One Transformers Diorama, specially lit up for the occasion, and the first-ever official reveal of its newest Batman masterpiece, The Birth of Justice.

Tokidoki (L1-F03) makes a return too, once again showing off its eye-catching booth design filled to the brim with its various characters and charming pop aesthetic. Don’t miss out on your chance to catch Italian artist and creator Simone Legno for a product signing and photo-taking opportunity!

For fans of Gunpla, Bandai Hobby (L1-C01) and Banpresto (L1-C01A) offers a wide range of model kits to choose from, including the newest additions from Netflix’s Gundam: Requiem for Vengeance, alongside a special Gunpla-building workshop, held in multiple shifts throughout the event’s two days, where newcomers can enjoy a relaxing building session with a choice of either the RX-78-2 Gundam or Pikachu model kits. The casual session serves as a great starting point to kick off a potential new hobby, and even make some new friends along the way, but be quick – there are only limited slots available.

Similarly, Tamashii Nations (L1-D03), located just next door, features a wide range of action figures from their S.H.Figuarts and The Robot Spirits lines. Centred on popular franchises like Gundam, Ultraman, and Kamen Rider, these models present a more playable and posable alternative for fans of the franchises.

Determined not to be one-upped, Infinity Studio (L1-A01) boasts a collection of intricate figures and busts across different major IPs, such as the Crimson Typhoon and Cherno Alpha Jaegers from Pacific Rim, the Robocop 1/2 scale statue, and its original statue line, Angel Force.

The true highlight, however, is undoubtedly its collection of detailed life-sized busts, including Neytiri from Avatar and Sylvanas from World of Warcraft.

If the force is strong within you, head down to Sabermach (L1-B03), Singapore’s very own commercial manufacturer of illuminated sabers and replicas, and arm yourself with your choice of lightsaber hilt, with colour-changing LED blades to bring out both the light and dark side of the force. Visitors can also check out the Green Hero Dagger Flute replica, inspired by the iconic weapon wielded by the original Green Power Ranger, a limited-run collectible not to be missed!

Once you’ve had your fill of all things collectibles, head down to the Artist Alley, where there’s certainly something for everyone, from comic collections spanning multiple popular entries in the Marvel and DC universes, to enamel pins, keychains and other knick-knacks hailing from talented artistes both local and abroad.

The tabletop scene has always been huge at such conventions, and this year is no different, with a large variety of booths like Table Minis (B2-C01A) and Sambal & Mages (B2-C03) offering immersive gaming sessions from popular franchises like Warhammer 40,000 and Dungeons & Dragons for fans of all skill levels, with instructors on hand to guide newbies through their first tabletop gaming experience. For those seeking a bit of artistic fun, miniature painting workshops are the cure to satisfy the itch.

From comic books and video games to other aspects of pop culture, SGCC 2024 opens its doors to geeks from all walks of life. There’s still plenty to experience on the show floor, so don’t miss out on the chance to bask in the annual celebration before it ends on 8 December. To keep note of the major event highlights, here’s our quick guide to navigating the show floor.

COSCON Matsuri Adults-Only Convention To Debut In Singapore With Leading Asia AV Idols In Aug https://geekculture.co/coscon-matsuri-adults-only-convention-to-debut-in-singapore/ Wed, 17 Jul 2024 16:19:02 +0000 https://geekculture.co/?p=297145

Sexclusive VIP event is closed doors with strictly no hands-on sessions.

The post COSCON Matsuri Adults-Only Convention To Debut In Singapore With Leading Asia AV Idols In Aug appeared first on Geek Culture.

]]>

Dressing up in costume for an appreciative audience will take on a whole new meaning in August when COSCON Matsuri makes its debut in Singapore as a private event for those above the age of 18.

If you’ve ever visited Suntec City on a weekend and bumped into cosplayers dressing up as their favourite comic book, movie, video game, manga or anime characters for a convention, get ready to see cosplay in a whole new light… and behind closed doors as the event, advertised as ‘Singapore’s Biggest Private Cosplay Event’ will be host to a large number of adult cosplayers from Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, Thailand and more.

These female cosplayers have made their names in playing dress-up as sexy versions of popular characters, or are known to share photos of themselves in scantily clad outfits or provocative and suggestive poses, all centred around a prominent display of their butt, bosom or body.

COSCON Matsuri will be fully air-conditioned, 8,000 square feet with a dance floor, stage, photo areas and more. There will be licensed security and event crew provided. Attendees may also come in cosplay attire.

Popular cosplayers who will be attending COSCON Matsuri include Thailand cosplayer Meen Fox who has over 300,000 followers on X and 250,000 on Instagram. Also on the list of guests that attendees at the two-day event can meet are popular Japanese adult film actress Ran Ran, and erotic Taiwanese cosplayer, CocoPie.

But this is Singapore after all, so privacy and exclusivity are the main draws of this members-only convention, with entry restricted to paying attendees, designated as the elite members and VIPs of the cosplay club. Sponsors for the August event include local sex-toys retailer Horny.sg, as well as well-known Japanese male sex aid device maker, Tenga, so read into that association what you will…

While fans and members can expect a tantalizing experience with leading AV idols and gravure models from across Asia who are slated to make appearances, there is a no hands-on policy at the event. However, photo and video recording is allowed so long as there is no invasion of privacy.

Early birds can snag tickets at a special rate: S$100 for VIPs (regular S$300) and S$20 for members (regular S$60). But hurry as these prices are only for the first 100 signups. Membership is required to purchase tickets, with one-day passes at S$30 (including a S$10 COSCON coupon) and two-day passes at S$50 (including a S$20 COSCON coupon). While there is merchandise for sale, there will not be any cash or contactless transactions allowed and all sales can only be made using COSCON coupons.

What’s so special about VIP access? These ticket holders will receive a more exclusive and personal experience, including private sessions with exhibitors, express queue access, free masquerade masks for privacy, and signed posters worth S$150.

To maintain security, all ticket buyers and attendees must provide the last four digits of their NRIC (for locals) or passport number (for foreigners), along with their name or initials, phone number, and email address during online membership registration. Photo IDs will be checked in person before entry to ensure age and identity verification. For more details on restrictions, including proper cosplay attire, you can check it out here.

ARK 11, Singapore’s latest revolutionary nightclub at the forefront of immersive technology, will host this event, transforming the landscape of entertainment and tourism. Built by the creators of Universal Studios Singapore, ARK 11 offers an unparalleled journey into a futuristic space club for party-goers in Singapore and beyond.

Ark 11, Orchard Central Mall.

The event will include more than 50 exhibitors over two days from all around Southeast Asia. This also includes MoeMoe Q Maid Cafe & Bar, so if you’re hungering for a snack, you can do so while being served by a charming maid cosplayer. If maid cosplay is not up your alley, there is also F&B available directly from the venue’s bar using cash or contactless payment.

So prepare for a weekend where fantasy meets reality in the most exclusive way possible. COSCON Matsuri is where your favourite anime characters come to life, but in ways you’ve only imagined in your wildest (or naughtiest) dreams.

Happy May the 4th, from fans, to fans.

The post This Is The Way To Find Your Friends In Apple’s May The 4th Star Wars Ad appeared first on Geek Culture.

]]>

Happy May the 4th! It’s Star Wars Day today, so Apple and Lucasfilm teamed up for a new commercial for iPhone 15’s Precision Finding with its ‘Find Your Friends’ feature. Lucasfilm received over 300 submissions for the ad, which eventually saw 172 fans getting involved in the production.

The ad follows a Mandalorian costumer (played by real-life fan Owen) as he journeys to meet up with friends at a local Star Wars convention. He starts off the day feeding his cat, Leia, and checking for the essentials before heading out. He picks up a boba tea (but of course), boards a bus, and uses his iPhone 15 to chat with and find his Mandalorian clan mates. Finally, they share greetings and some in-sync head-bobs to Channel Tres’ “All My Friends,” with the lyric “5:02, past the curfew” changed to “5:01,” in a nod from the artist to the 501st Legion fan group. Jardiniano and pals then blast off… up the escalator. The ad is also filled with Easter eggs, from the sign at the bus stop — “The first transport is away!” — to the “New Hope” street sign, so keep your scanners peeled!

And this is why Star Wars fans make the best community in the galaxy. This is the way.

Singapore is emerging the top favourite destination to kick things off this year.

Forget about tickets to Taylor Swift’s concert – there’s now another massive conference that you’ll beat yourself off silly for missing.

The organisers of the highly popular and successful AVN Adult Entertainment Expo (AEE) in Las Vegas is getting in bed with the Asia Adult Expo, to bring the first-of-its-kind conference to Asia, and plans are underway to have the week-long event to the highest bidder.

This will mark the first time that an adult event of this scale will be held anywhere in Southeast Asia, and attendees can expect to see adult products and brands in town, along with some of the more well-known adult talents entering the region with a bang, and Singapore is emerging the top favourite destination.

While this is the first adult entertainment convention and trade show of its kind, this is not the first time that an adult-themed event has been held in the region, though not at this scale.

Last year, sex toy brand Tenga participated in the Anime Festival Asia (AFA) 2023, offering their latest products to attendees in Singapore.

We understand that the genesis of this event was borne from adult film star Eva Alfie, who was in Singapore in October 2022, for The International 2022 global online competition. The Russian actress, nude model, and YouTuber was in town for a week, and was so overwhelmed by adoring fans who wanted photos with the star that she mooted the idea of organising the event in Singapore.

The dates for the events have not been fixed though it’s understood that while there are plans to bring this enormous event across Southeast Asia, interested parties are making the proposal to organisers for exclusive rights to host the event only in the Little Red Dot.

This plan was mooted after it was revealed that organisers of the recent Taylor Swift Eras Tour in Singapore were paid for exclusive rights, blocking Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines from having the concert in those countries. It has been reported that the six sell-out concerts in Singapore generated up to S$500 million (US$370 million) in tourism dollars that benefited restaurants, hotels and the music industry, among others.

That event also brought in a higher proportion of women, who make up the fans of the pop star and it is believed that this conference is expected to draw in more men to the country, and since men have a distinctly higher spending power than women, that the tourism dollars generated from this event will exceed the Wildest Dreams of any organisers.

Given the rather strict laws in Singapore, attendees should not expect to see scantily clad women appearing at conventional spaces. A partner for the event, who declined to be named in case his wife and girlfriends find out, “Eva is just one of many stars we were looking at hosting in Singapore. Pretty soon, we will be filming videos all across the top hotels in Singapore and I guarantee that by the end of the year, folks from all around the world will recognise the local tourist sites, hotels and restaurants that will become the backdrop of these videos.”

“Ask anyone and they can tell you that Japan’s Hanazono Room, officially No. 136 Hanazono Room, is one of the most recognisable filming location to all young-blooded males in the world. We aim for an iconic location here to achieve the same climax, and this will be the best way for fans to come together for this amazing event,” said a source close to Eva Alfie in an exclusive interview.

Unfortunately, the star refused to expose herself by revealing more until the proper time.

A delightful gathering of the familiar, the unexpected, and everything in between.

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and with good reason. Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) has always been a year-end highlight for fans of comic books, video games, toy, and other forms of Western pop culture, and 2023 is no different. This year’s iteration of the event saw excitement galore, from tabletop gaming and Cybertron Fest to the artist alley, an all-time favourite.

SGCC 2023 Cosplay Highlights

The convention experience isn’t complete without cosplay, however. Gracing the halls of Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre were various enthusiasts paying homage to their favourite characters, turning heads and grabbing attention from a distance away. As expected, Marvel and DC superheroes continue to be a staple, with Blue Beetle and Spider-Punk being new additions to the list.

For some, cosplaying is all about the group and community spirit. The show floor saw individuals dressed up alongside their friends and family, making their rounds as a pair, trio, quartet, or more. There were also stranger encounters that brought two different worlds together, but hey, something fun is made more enjoyable with good company – even if they may not have necessarily known one another before the prior to SGCC 2023.

Elsewhere, swords, daggers, and everything pointy made for a common sight. From Link, of The Legend of Zelda fame, to Berserk‘s Guts, the cosplayers certainly made sure to strike cool poses with their trusty weapons.

The rest of the cosplays hailed from a wide spectrum of interests, culminating into an interesting, diverse collection of sights. Pleasant surprises include the balloon-holding Pennywise, Scott Pilgrim, and Scooby Doo’s Velma, joining the likes of RoboCop, Final Fantasy VII‘s Aerith, Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen, and other familiar faces.

Over the course of 9 and 10 December, SGCC 2023 welcomed a steady visitor turnout, once again showcasing the influence and growth of pop culture in the region. It’s always nice to meet individuals with similar interests and bask in a shared love for something, and there was plenty of that to go around this year.

Onward to the next!

A feast for the geeks!

The time for Singapore Comic Con (SGCC) has come around once again! Packed with hundreds of booths and activities over two floors while filled with over thousands of guests on Day 1, there’s truly a vast amount of geekery for fans to catch.

With this year bigger and better than ever, we scour the floors for the must-catch highlights of the event.

For Star Wars fans, you’ll find yourself transported to a galaxy far far away as Star Wars has occupied both floors at booths such as Sabermach (L1-B05) and the 501st Legion Singapore Garrison (B2-D07). Merchandise and lightsabers ablaze, fans will find themselves lost in the Star Wars collection up for offer this year.

The 501st Legion is also hosting a charity photobooth where a minimum S$10 donation will allow fans to take photos with troopers on standby. Proceeds will go to the KKH Health Fund, which supports needy patients, programmes, research and education.

Tokidoki (L1-C01) is back this year as well, grabbbing attention from afar with their shop encompassed by walls filled with their trademark larger-than-life characters and striking pop colours. Fans can make their whole area their photo booth, or be treated with the indulgent range of tokidoki merchandise in-store, ranging from event-limited art prints to bags, lego builds and figurines.

Italian artist and creator of tokidoki Simone Legno is also at SGCC 2023 for both days of the convention from 2:30pm to 4pm, so it’s a chance not to miss if you’re heading down!

As a key partner, sponsor and designer of the SGCC mascot, Singapore toy company Mighty Jaxx (L1-E04) comes back with their extensive showcase of collectibles. Their range of collectibles for the casual to hardcore fans is a feast for the eyes, though holding onto the purse strings proves tough! The cherry on top is the three life-sized Mr. Sudsy (Hunted Edition), Disney 100: Mickey Mouse Transformation (Wonder Edition) and Freeny’s Hidden Dissectables One-Piece (Luffy’s Gear Edition) Gear 5 figures, which works great as photo spots.

Artist Jason Freeny, known for his dissectible collectables, and Singaporean cosplayer Rurusama were also at the booth for signing sessions and meet-and-greets.

Most notably, Mighty Jaxx has presented the global debut of Luffy’s Gear 5 collectible before its public release, and a new line of Syndicats: Nyakuza polystone art toys, created in collaboration with ASEAN artists.

Infinity Studio (L1-C01), meanwhile, promises a glorious collection of intricate figurines this year, including event-exclusive Hatsune Miku and Pisces figurines, as well as characters from Batman, Lord of the Rings, Neon Genesis Evangelion, World of Warcraft, and more. Most notably, their range of figurines featuring character splash arts from the game series, League of Legends, catches the eye with their detail.

Similarly, award-winning collectible producer XM Studios (L1-C01) showcases the quality of their highly detailed figurines across Marvel and DC. As visitors walk around their booth, they can spy figurines ranging from new collectible releases, such as Optimus Primal and Megatron, to all-time favourites like Spider-Man.

This year, XM Studios has decided to display a rare showcase of visuals from their developmental process in producing a new statue. This includes concept art for their unreleased Ultraman Genesis Series and 3D renders of their unpainted Batman Family Diorama.

If you’ve grown up on a steady diet of Hong Kong manhua, the Hong Kong Manhua Original Art Gallery (B2-D08a) is a huge must-go. The exhibit celebrates the 60th anniversary of the career of the “Godfather of Hong Kong Comics”, manhua artist, publisher and actor Tony Wong, also known as Wong Yuk-Long. Some of his most classic works include Little Rascals (originally titled Oriental Heroes) and Weapon of the Gods.

Visitors will find themselves surrounded by over 180 amazing original art pieces and manhua panels, both in colour and black and white, created by Tony Wong. Expect artwork from other popular and renowned illustrators, too, such as Andy Seto (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (臥虎藏龍)), Jerry Cho (Dead End (死角)), and Fung Chi Ming (Dagger, Sword, Laugh (刀劍笑)).

The booth will also hold special surprise guest appearances by the four artists above, a rare experience that fans should definitely catch.

For Marvel and DC Comics enthusiasts, Kalibak’s Komics (L1-AA26-27) has brought out an impressive collection for their buying and viewing pleasure, with rows of comics available for grabs.

With detailed, silk artworks framed around their booth, art collectible gallery Square Art (L1-C01) is also hard to miss. Back this year with a bigger collection than before, it features multiple local and international artists spanning a wide range of styles.

Square Art shares that the artworks are more sustainable by printing them on silk, and customers can choose to frame the art pieces, wear them as shawls or sew them into their clothing. Visitors are also welcome to share their art by doodling on their booth walls, or take home their free stickers.

Bandai Namco (L1-C01) makes a return with an extended spread of figurines that makes it difficult for fans to resist purchasing. Just to name a few of the figurines up for display at the Tamashii Nations booth – Gundam Universe, Naruto, One Piece, Spy X Family, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, and many more.

As always, the tabletop community is in full swing at SGCC 2023, as the large spread of booths – including Sambal and Mages (B2-C05), with their handmade resin dice, and Magic: the Gathering (B2-B01) – promises two days of non-stop immersion in tabletop gaming. The booths welcome all with open arms, offering play sessions designed to cater to every level of experience, from newcomers to veteran players. Expert instructors are also around to give a boost at any time.

From Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) and Magic: The Gathering, to Warhammer 40K and X-Wing, players can get hands-on experience for all their beloved tabletop games, be it much-played games or games you’ve had an eye on. This year truly hosts a haven of tabletop games.

A new addition to SGCC 2023, The Arcade People (B2-D08) have laid down a wide spectrum of arcade machines to satisfy cravings. Apart from classic claw machines, Mario Kart, and intense multiplayer arcade games like Bishibashi, visitors can catch a Spider-Man and Star Wars-themed pinball machine as well. Slot in the coin, and you might accidentally find yourself caught in there for hours.

Per usual SGCC fare, there is a plethora of exciting stage performances, from the Symphonic G-On set piece by the community-based PAssionArts AudioImage Wind Ensemble, to live D&D session Dungeons and Distractions.

Of course, there’s so much more to visit and look at, including the Artist Alley, Cybertron Fest, Creator’s Con, cosplays, and other booths of almost everything there is to geek about. Don’t miss the chance to fully satisfy all your geek cravings at SGCC 2023, which ends 10 December.

These shows, known for intertwining themes of coding, technology, and friendship, have gained significant popularity in Asia.

Attendees will be among the first to get their hands on these newly published books from the series, with an added chance to have them signed by the creator himself. Lai, recognised for his ability to craft engaging characters and stories, brings these much-loved characters to life in a way that resonates with both children and adults. His dedication to creating joyful and relatable content is evident in the success of his shows and the anticipation surrounding the book launch at SGCC.

Young attendees can enjoy screenings of Tom & Jerry Singapore during stage turnovers. In this seven-part series, the iconic cat-and-mouse duo embark on adventures in the Lion City. Their journey takes them through a mix of colorful neighborhoods, modern skyscrapers, and unique city-in-nature experiences.

This series offers a delightful blend of classic animation with a local twist, showcasing Tom and Jerry’s timeless charm in Singapore’s vibrant setting and keeping the kids entertained.

The main attraction of Lamput is his ability to shapeshift, which he often uses to evade capture by Specs and Skinny, the scientists trying to recapture him. This playful and imaginative series offers a mix of humour and creativity, making it a perfect addition to the children’s screening block. Its short format keeps the stories dynamic and captivating, suitable for young attention spans. Kids will likely be enthralled by Lamput’s antics and his clever ways of outsmarting his pursuers.

LEGO by The Brickshop (L1-E05)

The Brickshop’s LEGO booth at L1-E05 is a must-visit for young LEGO enthusiasts. The booth offers two engaging activities that will spark children’s imaginations and challenge their skills.

The first activity, Santa’s New Ride, invites kids to become Santa’s special helpers. They can use their creativity to build a new ride for Santa using LEGO bricks provided at the Elves Workshop. After creating their unique vehicle, children can snap a photo with their creation and share it on social media with the hashtags #LEGOGiftthesuperpowerofplaySG and #LEGOSG. By showing their post to a brand ambassador, they will earn a sticker. If they complete two activities, they will receive a LEGO polybag, available to the first 150 participants each day.

The second activity, Present Run, is a digital gaming challenge. Kids will help Santa collect fallen presents by swiping left and right in a fun, interactive game. The goal is to gather 20 presents within 30 seconds, avoiding non-present elements that deduct points. Successful players will receive a sticker from the brand ambassador and, like the first activity, completing two activities earns them a polybag that is limited to the first 150 kids daily. These activities at The Brickshop’s LEGO booth promise a fun and interactive experience for children, combining play with creativity and digital gaming skills.

Anime Festival Asia Singapore (AFA SG) 2023 is dazzling at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre from 24 to 26 November, bringing fans of anime, comics, and games together for an immersive experience, showcasing the latest in Japanese entertainment and pop culture icons. This year’s iteration brings about a vast array of offerings, including three star-studded nights of concerts, exhibitions, and special collaborations.

A major draw this year is the Yu-Gi-Oh! booth. Celebrating the English Edition for Asia release, it features demo sessions, glorious statues on display, and various card packs. Visitors are greeted by Seto Kaiba and his Blue-Eyes White Dragon army. Inside, a treasure trove of decks, booster packs, and collectibles awaits. Interactive experiences, such as a mini-game for custom tokens and Instagram challenges, amplify the excitement. This is more than a booth; it is a tribute to the dueling spirit and a preview of exciting developments for 2024.

Adjacent to the Yu-Gi-Oh! area, Bushiroad Expo Asia 2023 beckons card game aficionados. It features the Bushiroad Championship Series Regional Championship and a Shadowverse: Evolve World Invitational Regional Qualifier. This haven for trading card game (TCG) lovers offers merchandise, demos, coaching sessions, and opportunities to indulge in video games, but those seeking a different experience can look to the Ultraman Card Game as well, found at the dedicated Ultraman booth.

Crunchyroll brings an immersive special Jujutsu Kaisen experience to AFA 2023. Fans are able to step into the anime’s domain, relive iconic scenes, and meet fan-favourite characters such as Satoru Gojo. This interactive exhibit epitomises fan engagement, blending the lines between fiction and reality in this deep dive into a world of sorcery.

For HoYoverse fans, the dedicated space captivates with themed zones for beloved games along the likes of Genshin Impact, Honkai Impact 3rd, Honkai: Star Rail, and the much-anticipated Zenless Zone Zero. Activities range from photo ops to hands-on dice-rolling games to character quizzes, with exclusive merchandise and Pom-Pom mascot appearances adding to the allure. Offering a full-spectrum fan experience, the HoYoVerse booth is a comprehensive showcase of HoYoverse’s beloved titles in celebration of HoYoFEST 2023.

Gaming enthusiasts can also check out the demo booth for Battlebrew Productions’ Cuisineer, a made-in-Singapore special that features both roguelike and simulator elements. For a few minutes, step into the shoes of Pom, a young-adventurer-turned-restaurateur who has to run a diner and gather ingredients through the hard way: by fighting monsters in a dungeon. Adding to its charm is the adorable art style, which blends in extremely well with the game’s accessible nature.

Meanwhile, fans of Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man flock to the MAPPA booth for exclusive merchandise and collectibles. This hotspot offers a unique collection of items, turning every visit into a memorable haul for anime enthusiasts. MAPPA fans should also note that the final day will feature special appearances by Japanese voice actor Soma Saito (Haikyuu!!, Blue Lock) and MAPPA’s CEO, Manabu Otsuka, alongside anime directors Yuichiro Hayashi (Attack on Titan: The Final Season) and Mari Okada (Her Blue Sky).

If fan art and merchandise is your preferred poison, this year’s event has plenty of glorious offerings to go around. Ever the crowd favourite, the Artist Alley invites fans from all walks of life to spend on creations by local, regional, and even international talents, including prints, charms, acrylic stands, badges, stickers, tote bags, and more.

AFA 2023’s concert lineup is a celebration of anime music, featuring a mix of well-known and emerging artists. The I Love Anisong concert showcases talents like ASTERISM, Liyuu, May’n, NANO, Survive Said The Prophet, and Tatsuya Kitani, offering a blend of energetic and soulful performances. The following day, the sold-out hololive Meet greets fans with a stellar ensemble including Sakura Miko, Hoshimachi Suisei, and Mori Calliope, among others.

The festival concludes with SACRA MUSIC FEST, headlined by FLOW, ASCA, halca, and spiraspica, with a special appearance by Nami Tamaki. These concerts are performances as much as they are a tribute to the vibrant connection between anime and music, resonating deeply with fans.

Cosplay remains an integral part of the AFA 2023 experience. This year’s festival saw a significant turnout of cosplayers, captivating attendees with their intricate costumes, impressive weapons, and striking character portrayals. The spotlight shone brightly on Honkai: Star Rail cosplays, with stunning representations from Jujutsu Kaisen and Genshin Impact not far behind:

AFA 2023 proves to be an unmissable event, merging beloved franchises with interactive experiences. Fans eagerly await the next edition, already nostalgic for the memories created this year.
