Halo Studios, formerly known as 343 Industries, is bringing back a classic shooter franchise in the form of Halo: Campaign Evolved, a Unreal Engine 5 remake of the original 2001 game that’s not just heading to the Xbox and PC, but also the PlayStation 5 for the first time in franchise history.
Like its name suggests, the remake will only consist of the game’s campaign section, bringing enhanced 4K visuals, updated animations, re-recorded voice acting and a remastered soundtrack to modernise the 24-year-old title. In addition, the remake will also include various new elements, including nine additional weapons from other later games in the franchise, alongside a three new prequel missions.
According to a post on Halo Waypoint, these new missions will feature Master Chief fighting alongside fan-favourite Sergeant Avery Johnson, and “encounter new characters, enemies, environments, and dangers” in a series of missions “set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved.”

Despite Halo: Campaign Evolved not featuring a multiplayer component, the remake will include co-op crossplay for the first time in Halo history, allowing console players to play in two-player split-screen couch co-op or team up online across all 13 campaign missions, with shared progression between all platforms.
Halo: Campaign Evolved heads to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2026.
